FMB Season 8 Results now in the archives.

We placed 29th out of 62 with a score of 74.69 in our group at championship prelims, and 50th place overall out of 91.

The highlight of our season was in week 3, when our guard was the top guard out of all 3 divisions, a total of 300+ guards.

It was a rough season for us, learning the ropes in FMB, and with the largest field ever of D.II bands & corps competition was very stiff. We hope to have a better season next time.

History

The Cadets are a melting pot of former units from the Garfield Boys Academy
in Garfield, TX, 13 miles S.E. of Austin.

Founded in 1850 by town father Abraham Beauregard Garfield, III, the academy boasted extra carricular activities to enrich the young mens' lives such as a field & parade unit, honor guard, rifle squad, ROTC unit, concert & jazz bands.

In 1989 these units combined to form one multi-purpose unit known as
"The Cadets Parade & Concert Corps."  Performing in local parades, ceremonial functions at the academy & in town, plus one major trip per year, "The Cadets" were the symbol of spirit in Garfield, TX.

Fall of 1997 started a campaign for more exposure, as "The Cadets" began performing at standstill in block formation during half-time of home football games.

May of 2001 found the schools board of directors at a crossroads with the unit, and it was decided to turn "The Cadets" into "The Garfield Cadets Virtual Fantasy Drum & Bugle Corps" for competition in Division II of fantasy drum corps games.

We competed successfully for 8 seasons in FDCI, FDCA & VCL.

In January 2004 we became a Division I corps for competition in FDCI only. We competed until the demise of FDCI in the spring of 2006.

In April 2007 we debut as a Division I corps for competition in DCP-I, and Division II for FMB.
